Financial Technology Sales/Business Development

Based at:
OptiRisk Systems, London, UK

Key responsibilities:

• Pursuing existing leads, liaising with other members of staff, communicating and meeting with customers and prospective customers, and helping define the steps needed to complete a sale, such that the software development staff can make modifications as required.
• Generating new leads, e.g. mailshots, cold calling, posting company news to social media, participating in relevant online forums, attending conferences and networking events (sometimes in the evening or weekend, in the UK or overseas).
• Making presentations about the company's products and services, discussing business needs with customers and other third parties.

Skills/Requirements:
Customers and prospective customers may be in the UK, continental Europe or the USA and so you must be able to travel.  Fluent English, spoken and written, is an essential requirement.

The ideal candidate will:

• Good first degree or Masters equivalent
• Have previous sales experience or substantial business development experience
• Have an appetite to be involved in sales work
• Be outgoing and keen to listen to customers' needs
• Be confident talking about maths and statistics
• Be confident talking about software and computer programs
• Have knowledge of the financial markets, principally portfolio management and risk.

Salary:
£18-40k (depending on experience) plus commission

Software Developer – Operations Research/Optimisation

Based at:
OptiRisk Systems, London, UK

Key responsibilities:

• The software developer will be required to work on his or her own in the development of optimisation algorithms.
• He or she is expected to work within a small team of developers within OptiRisk.
• In addition he or she will be required to work with algorithm specialists of partner institutions based in Europe, UK and USA.
• The person will also be required to work with tight deadlines and report on progress and deliverables on a regular basis.

Skills/Requirements:

• Bachelor or equivalent degree in Operational Research, Mathematics, Computer Science or similar field is required, MSc. or Ph.D. preferred.
• Strong programming skills are necessary, along with an understanding of software engineering practices.
• Experience developing cross-platform (Linux/Windows) applications in C/C++ is a strong plus.
• Exposure to algorithms used for mathematical optimization or numerical computations.
• Experience with software development tools such as source level debugging, code profiler and version control system is required.

Salary:
£15-30k (depending on experience)
